Father's Day Breakfast- Miles' Wingspan

Like a Hungry Hungry Hippo, Miles kept trying to snatch our breakfast foods. Notice exactly how much of that little table we have to keep clear. The DMZ is clearly outlined. Butter packets that didn't keep to their side were flung at the family behind us. Luckily, the kid is cute enough to prevent fights from breaking out. Nothing like a butter packet to the side of the head to dampen some one's Father's Day outing.

Water Boy, p.2

He went into fish sign language overload, and I caught the (fish)tale end of his frenzy. If I could, I would install this into his room. That would earn me some brownie points, right? However, we are just as happy to visit the Virginia Living Museum frequently. Which we do. And we renewed our annual passes today. Next annual pass stop... Busch Gardens!

Good news

My results came back negative for fifths disease. However, I have never been exposed to it, so I will always have to be on the watch out whilst preggers. Still, this is great news!

I'm going on a Strep Strike!

1. Miles has strep throat. Again.

2. Miles also has scarlet fever. Funny, when I went to look it up, Scarlet Johansen was my first finding. Though not as serious as in years past, scarlet fever still makes me nervous. Makes me think of Oregon Trail, where little Timmy dies of typhoid and/or scarlet fever only after I replace the axle and sell an oxen.

3. We took a different course of action this time. I suspect this is the same strep from 4 weeks ago, and the strep was killed at the time. Sooo, instead of signing up for another 10 day round of oral antibiotics, we opted for the penicillin shot. Big needle, fast recovery time. I want to be sure that the strep is stopped. Now.

4. I am so over strep. It has been hanging around my son for months, maybe over a year. He's still into mouthing everything. Even tried to lick a dude's toe in the Dr's waiting room today- so clearly, he's a candidate for strep. Hopefully, strep isn't carried on toes. Perhaps that demon of shot today will help curb his compulsion to taste everything that's not food.

5. Supplies are running low. The oxen are hot and hungry, and we've got two more days before reaching the outpost. Little Sarah Ann needs new clothes... opps, I slipped back into Oregon Trail there for a second. Good night all!

Me-ouch!

Ever wondered what if feels like to arrange an IEP meeting? With only ten days left of the school, I can now almost laugh about this. I saw this clip at a conference a few years back, and it came to me as flashback moments ago, as I was banging my head against the wall. Again. I am so close to the finish line (10 days but who's counting), yet I've got a few more loose ends to tie up. Me and loose ends, we don't mesh. I am all about closure. When stuff hangs over my head, I just stress my stomach lining away until the issue is resolved. Now, with morning sickness in high gear, that same tummy tightness is only adding fuel to the guttural fire already ablaze. On average, I am running to the teacher's lounge several times during first period. Breakfast just doesn't want to stay in class (or in my stomach) these days.

As a parent going into my first ever annual IEP meeting (not including IFSP's) later this week, I will keep this mind. Hopefully, my experience on both sides of the table will remind me to be flexible and patient. I can sympathize. Been there. Done that. Wrangled up some cats.

Here's the saving grace... I work for an amazing district. My son couldn't be going into better hands. Our initial eligibility went incredibly well- we had a productive conversation, with input abound. But enough of the chit chat. Teachers, friends of teachers, and parents who work closely with teachers: watch the clip. Be prepared to laugh your buns off.

Quick Status Report

Miles: Ear tubes are looking great. He's getting outfitted for ear plugs this coming week. We will then turn him loose in Elmo's Castle. (I will be grumpy as my newer, more delicate position requires me to avoid roller coasters.) Update on the teething front: he's currently cutting 3! A K9 and two molars. Needless to say, we've all had better days. Luckily, all 3 have erupted- so I think the worst is over... for now. Last week, kiddo sprouted a mysterious and viral rash. Please pray with me that it was not Fifths. His doc didn't think so, but I went ahead and had the screening done. Results are still pending.

Jesse: Ponytail trimmed, beach volleyball season off to a great start- the boys had their first tourney end in a win. Woo-Hoo! Jesse is definitely over all of this teething business, and he's ready to start rearranging to house for the new arrival. Hopefully, our timing will be a little better than last time- though Miles did not follow the schedule we had selected. Didn't get that memo, huh?

Anna: Green to the gills. Call me Pukey McPukerson. Sorry to be gross, but I spend more time watching reruns of my meals than I do on TV. I am also combating a Vitamin D issue with the aide of adult chewables. Regular school has only a mere 10 days left, and I am currently in the throes of two online classes- with even more to come- bon voyage summer freedom. Also, we have a tennis season to wrap up. (And, and, and... the new Steig Larsson book to read; it is waiting for me upstairs as I type this. Coming dear!)

Rajah & Liloo: Soooo over the heat- desperately want me to feed them only Frosty Paws and/or tape them up to the window units.
