Better than new!

Miles' appointment with the cardiologist went better than I imagined! He is a brand new boy. Dr. F was pleased with everything- the way the incision is healing, EKG results, images from the Echo. . . And we are reducing the lasix to once a day; and then by next week, Miles will be medication free. Learning that the surgery was a complete success (and that no murmur can be heard) has really lifted my spirits. My little man is now soaring- as are his parents!!!

Quick sidebar: The tech who did the Echo could not identify the location of the VSD. That's how good our surgeon is. We would recommend Dr. P (full name upon request) to any family. He did an amazing job- good enough to go undetected within two weeks. Quite impressive.

Another quick sidebar: Nova (PBS) has a great website documenting the history of open heart surgery. The rate of technological advancement blows my mind. To think the field was pioneered during WW II with procedures not lasting longer than 4 minutes to operations like Miles'- two hours plus with the assistance of a heart-lung machine. . . Check out the link if you are curious: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/heart/pioneers.html

Okay- I can't the link to work. Just paste it onto the address line. Sorry for the trouble, though the site is totally worth checking out.

What wonderful news! God is so awesome that He gave Dr.P. and the surgical team the talent and knowledge to take that tiny heart and mend it...and in the process... mending your heart and Jesse's heart. Hey, 3 for 1! Like the Mastercard commercial... Priceless!

I can almost see your smile in the writing! The pictures of "The Artist" are also priceless. Can I buy one now before he becomes so famous that I can't afford one. He's so intent on his work.

Regarding the previous entry...I haven't read anything about Tropic Blunder (oops Thunder), but I don't like to hear those cheap jokes either. Not just about the "r" word...but lots of other things too. Guess it stems from years of working with kids with special needs. I won't be seeing the movie...as a tribute to Miles and the many other talented people who are somehow deemed different. You know what, most of the time their hearts are truer than those of the "averages" out there.

Miles is so blessed with you, Anna. How lucky all of you are!

Congratulations on the fantastic report from the doctor!
