Progress by the numbers

For all of you quantitative folks out there, I want to share with you Miles' progress in a numeric fashion.  Two days prior to the surgery Miles was only able to eat 14 ounces of formula- that's total intake for the entire day.  Yesterday Miles put down 29 ounces of formula.  He has more than doubled his daily intake.  Additionally, each feeding is now at about 5 to 6 ounces.  Prior to the operation, he could only eat two to three ounces at a go.  Furthermore, his former time needed to finish a feeding was anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.  Now, Miles is slurping down these bigger bottles in 10 to 15 minutes.

There is absolutely no doubt in my mind that we made the right decision- electing to have the surgery done so quickly.  Obviously, Miles needed the work done.  Obviously, this will allow him to thrive.  Obviously, I couldn't be happier!

Oh, I can't take any credit for this. It has been all Miles and his doctors- I am just the driver. Actually, Jesse is the driver, and I am the passenger that yells about traffic and speed traps. His recent transformation has been amazing. I'm thinking that all his fussiness leading up to the surgery has to do with him being hungry. MIles was able to gain weight, at least he was up until the last two weeks prior to C'ville. His doctors were impresses that he never had to get a feeding tube. Now it's a whole new ball game. His heart is no longer working against him; it is working with him.

Ann-you are an amazing friend! Thank you for all of your kind words over the past few weeks.

You can't see the big grin on my face, but it is there! I am so thrilled that Miles is thriving now! Remember, I told you you'd need your sleep? He is going to take off from here and amaze you with his enthusiasm!
Oh, what a wonderful post to read! Now, you can breathe, and relax, and know he will be ok, the best thing a parent can know!

Let's not forget to thank God for watching over your tiny, vulnerable child and providing doctors and nurses to do the hands on part for the healing. Most of all...let's thank Him that He matched you and Jesse with Miles. What a miracle!! Yes, Anna, you are great, terrific, positive, NORMAL (aka - fanatical, worried, sometimes grumpy, ready to fight for your child, but always loving) mom!
